This riverside apartment in Portimão was designed for a well-travelled client with a love for Moroccan, Indonesian and Asian interiors. Having collected decorative pieces from around the world, the goal was to create a cohesive space that not only felt warm and inviting, but also celebrated these meaningful objects.

We reimagined the living room by introducing a feature display wall with floating shelves, allowing the client’s collection to become a focal point rather than remaining hidden throughout the home. Additional shelving above the sofa added visual interest while creating further opportunities for thoughtful styling.

As part of the project, several existing furniture pieces were carefully upcycled, giving them a new life while ensuring they complemented the overall design scheme - a sustainable approach that balanced character with cohesion.

In the bedroom, layered textures, statement wallpaper and soft lighting transformed the space into a calm retreat. A structural element originally executed incorrectly by a previous contractor was redesigned into a bespoke fireplace feature, demonstrating how creative problem-solving can turn a challenge into a defining architectural moment.

The result is an eclectic, globally inspired home that reflects the client’s personality while maintaining a refined and harmonious aesthetic.
